When did children start to lose their spontaneity for laughter and humor?
Have you ever noticed how children laugh at simple things and have fun easily with just about anything? Everything is amazing for them. They giggle anywhere and everything seems light and easy. In their bedroom furniture, children come up with creative ways to enjoy them. Either they imagine living in a castle and pretend that their dresser is the same with what royalties use.
This makes us wonder, were we like them as well? Were we happy giggling youngsters who take life very lightly? When did we start losing our flare for humor and fun?
Looking at the children right now, they usually get away with anything. If they break a vase, they just say sorry and their helpless image is just too much to scold. As they grow, their mischief is no longer funny and cute.
Children become more in touch with reality. The childrens bedroom furniture used to perceive as an enchanting kingdom becomes smaller. And playing pretend is no longer that exciting especially with all the assignments they have for school. After that, everything starts to become more serious. And the giggles become less and less visible.
The question is, do we really have to give up the simplicity of happiness to face the more serious side of life? Although most of us will answer no, we do otherwise. We tend to postpone happiness and plan to have it as soon as we check off our entire to-do list.
The wood furniture children used to have are replaced or repainted with more formal colors. Reminding them that they have grown to look at more serious stuff and be happy with more real things like having that dream house and owning that sport car. Imaginations are no longer enough.
But happiness is not something you have to put on hold. It is something that you have to decide on. Are you going to be happy today or are you going to wait until you find your significant other? If you have a partner at the moment, are you going to be happy or wait until you got married? Or if you are married are you going to wait for your first born in order to be happy? The list can go on.
