Instil Positive Grooming Habits on Your Kid

Are you worried that your little girl is not as girly as she’s supposed to be? Do you always find her with messy hair, soiled clothes and dirty feet after hours of running around with her brothers? Would she rather spend time climbing up trees and building sand castles than comb her hair or wash herself up? Does taking a bath or standing in front of her kids vanity table seem like the most tedious chore you make her do?

We’ve all heard of those little girls who act boyish, speak boyish and do boyish games, or those who hate dolls and make faces in front of their vanity dresser furniture. But as a parent, there is hardly anything to worry about because this is a common phase that some little girls go through especially those who only have brothers as older siblings to look up to.

But what you have to be concerned about is not the part of your little daughter’s being boyish and rough but the fact that she overlooks the importance of good grooming.

It is your role as a parent to instil positive habits on good grooming to your little child. Although it may not seem easy to make her spend time in front of her kids dresser, there are certain tricks you can use to enlighten her on the essence of keeping herself neat and tidy.

First, take advantage of the thing she loves most to send the message across. If her favourite activity includes imaginative plays, create a play where she plays the lead character of the girl who never wanted to take a bath. As the director of the play, show the bad consequences that happened to the girl who didn’t want to clean herself up such as bad health, bad smell and badly looking physical appearance. At the end of the play, make her realize that these too can happen to her if she does not practice good grooming habits.

If she loves story telling on the other hand, do the similar activity only this time, do it by story telling and showing her drawings of the little girl who didn’t want to take a bath.

Another thing you can do is to invest in wonderful childrens vanities dressers that will surely inspire her to practice proper self-grooming habits. The KidKraft Princess Vanity & Stool is a good example of vanities for kids that the little princess in your daughter will surely love. No matter how boyish a little girl may be, there is always that little princess hiding inside her and waiting to shine.

The Guidecraft Daisy Pastel Vanity on the other hand is also a nice vanities for kid dresser where your child will enjoy fixing herself up, combing her hair and storing her grooming kits in.

Aside from these, it is also a good idea to set a good example to your child to show her the importance of good grooming. Show her how neat and tidy you keep yourself and how much you enjoy maintaining a clean personal hygiene.

Good grooming is indeed an essential part of any person’s healthy well-being. It contributes largely to one’s self confidence and physiological health. Good health starts from being clean and cleanliness begins with good grooming. Therefore it is imperative that positive habits on good grooming start as early as childhood when the foundation of character begins to form.
